The publisher of the San Francisco Examiner informs me that there are no online images or digitized editions of the Examiner online for dates prior to 1900. The Library of Congress images begin in 1900, and none of the free or pay sites have the 1800s Examiners. That is why I am asking if any of the forum members has a copy of the Rollin Daggett article of Jan. 22, 1893, in which he mentions Mark Twain.

It could have been reprinted in a contemporary CA paper.
