Isn't the 'Connecticut Yankee' the best source for Twain's complaints
about the German language? I vaguely remember a passage about 'the
German' diving into a sentence and you never know what he's talking
about until he comes up again at the end of the sentence with the
verb - or something like that. Must be about two thirds through the
book.
