Peter,

In addition to a January 27, 1894 boxing match that Clemens attended
with Henry H. Rogers to see James J. Corbett, he also attended a boxing
match on Saturday, December 30, 1893 with Rogers and Dr. Rice at
the NY Athletic Club and saw Frank Craig the Harlem "Coffee Cooler"
defeat "the white man" Joe Ellingsworth. Clemens's version of this
boxing match was reported in a letter to Livy dated January 4, 1894,
reprinted in _The Love Letters of Mark Twain_, (Harper & Bros., 1949)
p. 287.
