You've probably thought of this, and it's not a reference by title, but in
_TS_ Tom recites Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty" speech (Oxford MT 169),
and in _HF_ Pap tests the rumor of Huck's literacy by having him read a
passage from a book, "something about General Washington and the wars" (MTL
24); all of these were commonly included in McGuffey's readers and other
similar school anthologies, though there's no mention of those by name.
