The missing movie:

I tried all the usual paths - Variety, Hollywood Reporter, etc - best I got was via ASK.com (my favorite engine), which could only find the mentions from 2008, saying the film was due in early 2009. The link was to MovieHole.com, which has nothing new, but advises the new movie finder jinni.com (Muslim/Arabic for genie).

Could it be that the film was sold for TV release, or released only in Europe, for example? Most likely the film, if finished, did not get distribution, even if it was by Eastwood. The words "starring Clint Eastwood" seem to be a stretch - he was only to play him in hospital bed at the end. (called "bookending" in Hollywood jargon)

> friends: This morning, I came across another tiny mention on-line about the film Remembering Mark Twain, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood--does anyone on here know anything more about this production?

mr. bush: here's more:
You're right - it seems to be in the black hole of Hollywood dreams.
Here's one 2008 story from 2008, citing MovieHole.com

"It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world, and moral courage so rare." (uncredited on the site)

Clint Eastwood to Direct Mark Twain Biopic
The UK film website Moviehole.com broke the news on Saturday that the next project Clint Eastwood will direct will be called Remembering Mark Twain. The tidbit was revealed by producer Albert S. Ruddy, who will be working with Eastwood on the project, as he previously did with Million-Dollar Baby.

Stepping in front of the cameras once again, Eastwood will also play Mr. Clemens himself at the end of his life, in hospital scenes that will bookend the movie. Ruddy describes it as "a really sweet, beautiful movie." Keep an eye on this one, it could very well be an Oscar contender next year.

Astonishingly, there has only been one other theatrically released Mark Twain biopic, and that was 1944's The Adventures of Mark Twain, starring Fredrich March.
