Camy, I think you asked about other stories.  There's "Jeff Peters as a
Personal Magnet" by O.Henry, in which the reader himself may be conned--a
great
read (and read-aloud if you like to do voices) and a good example of the
traveling grifter.  Then there's Flanery O'Connor's short novel Wise
Blood--a much
darker story of the preacher/con-artist character--very dark and macabre.
