The line about a woman preaching isn't Twain's. It's Samuel Johnson's, but I
don't know the source. I expect that like most of the best Johnson lines you
can find it in Boswell. By the bye, Barb, what are you working on? It seems
you have an incredible depth and range of knowledge on Twain, but I can't
recall your name from any books or articles. Have I missed something somewhere
or did you confess your interest in a post I have forgotten. If you don't
feel like broadcasting the nature of your work, at least let _me_ know somehow.
