Mark Twain: The Ecstasy of Humor

The series, Quarry Farm Papers, is a publication of the Elmira College Center
for Mark Twain Studies.  The series makes available works of primary
importance to Mark Twain Studies by scholars who have participated in
programs at the Center.
 
Mark Twain:  The Ecstasy of Humor was delivered as the keynore address at the
conference "The State of Mark Twain Studies," at Elmira College Center for
Mark Twain Studies at Quarry Farm, 12-14 August 1993.  This conference
honored the life-time achievements of Dr. Budd, the "Dean" of Mark Twain
Studies.  This publication also contains a forward written by Alan Gribben
that details the many achievements of Dr. Budd, including his extensive
publications and lectures, as well as Dr. Budd's continual support and
encouragement for scholars entering the field of Mark Twain Studies.
