The August/September American Heritage (2003) contains an interview with Hal
Holbrook, "With Mark Twain, you can get away with murder." In the interview,
Holbrook describes playing Twain in difficult situations, the meaning of
Twain to audiences over time, how the actor shaped his characterization, and
why he thinks Puddn'head Wilson is underrated. Among other things.
