Actually, I find that those "garbage-characters" occur on just about every message I get on this listserv, and on no others! I've complained to the administrators for years and for some reason they are powerless to correct it. MT would be furious!
Also, ironically, the link I posted to the Calvin & Hobbes strip has proved temperamental, too. Maybe for the same reason?
I'll post it here again in hopes of better luck. It does work (and it's my favorite cartoon of all time...nothing to do with MT, however).
