There will be a major disruption of the York University Network
backbone occurring on Sunday April 9, 00:01-06:00.  CCIS Network
Operations will be using this time to put the router backbone FDDI
ring into service.  This is another step in the continuing evolution
of the bandwidth capacity of the YorkU network.
 
At present, the largest core routers of the YorkU Network are
connected by dedicated 10Mb/s Ethernet links.  The revised connection
topology will have them sharing a 100Mb/s FDDI ring for the purpose of
exchanging traffic between routers.  In addition, a second FDDI ring
is being commissioned for the connection of high-traffic server
systems (i.e. central tape backup servers) to the YorkU Network.
