There was a problem in the BELL telephone network on Wednesday February
5th. At some point during the day the number of lines/modems available
to the 736-6002 pilot number was reduced by two thirds. Busy signals
were reported to the helpdesk beginning mid to late afternoon.
Unfortunately, to rectify the situation, CCS Netops had no choice but to
clear the 736-6002 modem pool and reassign each individual line/modem
back to the -6002 pilot number. This resulted in users being dropped
from the modem pool, in some cases, a number of times. Normal 736-6002
modem pool service was restored by 07:00 PM.
