IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING APPLE iBOOK AND POWERBOOK BATTERY RECALL

As you may be aware, Apple recently issued a safety recall for iBook
and PowerBook batteries received/purchased between October 2003 and
August 2006. The batteries can overheat under rare circumstances. If
you believe you may have an affected computer, please follow these
instructions.

If this is a University supported computer, please refer to your local
technical support group for direction; otherwise, continue the steps here.

Confirm whether your Apple laptop is one of the following:
12-inch iBook G4
12-inch PowerBook G4
15-inch PowerBook G4

If Yes, then the next step is to verify whether your laptop is carrying
the affected battery pack; and this can be done by performing the
following
steps:

- Power down the laptop
- Remove the Battery Pack (if not familiar, access the Laptop users guide)

Please refer to the following website for a complete list of affected
battery packs and the relevant serial/part numbers.

https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange/

If your Battery Pack has one of the affected part numbers, please contact
Apple directly via the website above to request a replacement.

Questions or concerns about this note, should be directed to
the CNS Helpdesk in the Computing Commons, William Small Centre,
