To date, Microsoft has failed to issue a fix for the bad update. CNS has
been working behind the scenes since last week and has developed a
solution for the DialUp modem issue. Please call Client Services at
416-736-5800. You must be in front of your computer to modify settings,
and have your dialup account password available.

If you do have access to email, you can email [log in to unmask] from your
York email account, include your dialup account password and we will
forward you the settings changes.

Please note that if dialup is still working for you because you have not
installed the latest Windows critical updates, you will have to contact
Client Services as above, once you have done the updates.

Questions or concerns about this note, should be directed to
the CNS Helpdesk in the Computing Commons, William Small Centre,
(voice: 416-736-5800, email: [log in to unmask]).

The dial up problem is caused by a bug in a recent patch issued by
Microsoft. This is a global problem affecting hundreds of organizations.
We have opened an incident report with Microsoft and are working with them
to attempt to resolve the problem.

We will provide an update by email and voicemail (416 736 5800) on any
developments which may occur over the weekend, but likely it will be at
least Tuesday before Microsoft releases a hotfix for the patch. We are
currently investigating other solutions in the event that Microsoft is
unable to release a hotfix.

the CNS Helpdesk in the Computing Commons, William Small Centre,
