This message is being sent to each Faculty of Pure and Applied Science
undergraduate account on the VAX/VMS host SOL.

The University has decided that the academic VAX/VMS cluster, which includes
hosts SOL and ORION, has reached the end of its useful life span; as a
result, it will be phased out over the next year or so. It is expected that
any related budgetary savings will be redirected towards expanding existing
central facilities - e.g. the Internet service and/or academic Unix
(Phoenix) clusters - or towards other computer-related needs.

If you would like to acquire an Internet services and/or Phoenix account,
you may do so by:- visiting CCS Help Services in T103 Steacie;
                 - sending email to [log in to unmask];
                 - contacting Help Services via telephone (416 736-5800); or by
                 - self-generating account(s) via SAMS in the Steacie Micro
                   Lab (T107).

   Pursuant with this notification, ALL Faculty of Pure & Applied Science
    undergraduate accounts will be deleted and removed from SOL effective
                               01-August-1996.
