JOB POSTING ARCHIVAL PROJECT MANAGER EIGHT MONTH CONTRACT Markham Museum & Historic Village is a 25 acre site consisting of over twenty buildings depicting the history of Markham. The Museum is operated by the Town of Markham through the Community Services Commission. We are currently seeking an Archival Project Manager for our Millennium Photo Archives Project. This project is a partnership between the Markham Lions Club and the Museum. Funding has been provided by these organisations, the Canada Millennium Partnership Programme, Markham 2000, and numerous other sponsors. JOB DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Museum Curator, the Archival Project Manager will work on all three phases of the project, including collecting 20th century images of Markham, collecting present-day images of Markham, and re-organisation and digitisation of the Museum's current photo collection. The Archives Project Manager will be responsible for solicitation of photographers, organisation of the photographic collection, final photo selection, cataloguing and storage using appropriate archival techniques. Reliable transportation and a valid drivers license are required. QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will have a degree or certificate in History, Information Science, Museum Studies or a related field. Demonstrated ability to work well with the public, project a professional and enthusiastic manner, and address public meetings is essential. The individual must also have strong organizational skills and experience working with photographic collections and their care, as well as experience with digital collections.
