----------------- HES POSTING ----------------- ANN: LIBRARY COMPANY OF PHILADELPHIA FELLOWSHIP AWARDS Program in Early American Economy and Society Fellowships for 2001-2002 The Library Company of Philadelphia's Program in Early American Economy and Society invites applications for its three types of fellowship awards to be granted for research and scholarship during 2001-2002, as follows: --- Four one-month fellowships that carry stipends of ,600 each and are tenable from June 2001 to May 2002, available to scholars at all levels of research. --- One dissertation-level fellowship, tenable for nine consecutive months from September 1, 2001 to May 31, 2002, and carrying a stipend of 5,000. --- One advanced research fellowship, also for nine consecutive months from September 1, 2001 to May 31, 2002, and carrying a stipend of 0,000. These fellowships are designed to promote scholarship in early American economy and society, broadly defined, from its colonial beginnings to roughly the 1850s. Some of the possible subjects of investigation include the history of commerce, finance, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, internal improvements, and political economy. Applicants for both short-term and long-term fellowships may submit proposals based not only on the extensive printed collections at the Library Company, but also on the printed and manuscript materials of other institutions nearby. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in the growing intellectual life of the Program in Early American Economy and Society and contribute to the Library Company's other scholarly activities. One-month fellowship applicants also need to send 1 letter of recommendation.
