Project Archivist (Full-time 4 month contract - Canadian Council of Archives Grant) The City of Kitchener requires a Project Archivist for a period of approximately 4 months to work in the Corporate Archives area of Corporate Records (Corporate Services Department). The successful applicant will prepare a backlog of original by-laws and assessment rolls for the Corporate Archives including: Performing some background research of the details of the origin and contents of the records. Performing some appraisal and selection of records for the Archives including identification of duplicate and vital records. Arranging and preparing descriptions of the records according to RAD. Creating finding aids for the records. Physically processing the records for the Archives including flattening, removing pins/clips/staples, wrapping in acid-free tissue, placing in acid-free folders and boxes, and arranging transfer to the Archives. Other archival duties as required. Applicants must have the following skills and qualifications: 1. Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. 2. Willing to complete a medical examination if required. 3. Possess a University degree in archival studies or related field with archives courses (completed or in progress). 4. Experience arranging and describing archival materials using RAD. 5. Excellent written communication and organizational skills. 6. Experience using Windows 95 and Word. 7. Ability to work with minimal supervision. 8. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in municipal government.
