----------------- HES POSTING ----------------- Conference Announcement The fourth biennial conference of the International Thorstein Veblen Association will be held May 11-12, 2002 at the Graduate Faculty for Political and Social Science at the New School University, 65 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York, co-hosted by Michael Hughey and Arthur J. Vidich. The purpose of the ITVA is: to facilitate and revive, in a Veblenian spirit, a critical and historical attitude in the social sciences; to examine and evaluate Veblen's ideas and methods with respect to their applicability and utility for comprehending and analyzing the contemporary world order; to make explicit the attitudes, perspectives, and assumptions underlying Veblen's social, economic, political, and religious frameworks; to illuminate the relationship between Veblen's ideas and his linguistic, rhetorical, and poetic style; to foster and facilitate communication among Veblen scholars throughout the world.
