----------------- HES POSTING ----------------- I have received the following availability announcement from the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library at Duke, and pass it on to HES: "A fine complement to the RBMSCL's premier collection of economists' papers, the records of the American Economic Association provide rich documentation of the development of the field of economics in the United States throughout the 20th century. Much of the massive collection, which dates from 1886 through 1998, relates to the Association's publications, American Economic Review, The Journal of Economic Literature, and The Journal of Economic Perspectives. Besides administrative records, there are numerous other journal office files with correspondence, manuscripts, and book reviews. Materials related to the organization's Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession are noteworthy. Over 1,000 boxes include histories, minutes, and statistics, as well as membership information and black-and-white photographs. See a preliminary collection inventory at http://scriptorium.lib.duke.edu/dynaweb/findaids/americaneconomicassociation/. Some of the materials in this collection are restricted and some are not immediately accessible before they require further processing before use. Please contact RBMSCL Research Service staff before visiting us to use this collection: (919) 660-5822 ([log in to unmask])." E.
