posted on behalf of Marianne Kobus-Matthews, acting manager FOCUS Resource Centre ********************************************** Ontario Alcohol and Other Drug Health Promotion / Prevention Framework Consultation survey due June 7th The FOCUS Resource Centre (FRC), in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), has contracted Healthy Horizons Consulting to undertake an initiative to develop a provincial framework to address the problems associated with alcohol and other drugs within a health promotion / prevention context. The framework will articulate a vision and goals that reflect the aspirations and shared commitment of Ontario communities and health intermediaries to prevent and reduce the harmful impact of alcohol and other drugs. We recognized that there are many people and organizations working in the area of substance abuse and injury prevention that would welcome an opportunity to lend voice to the framework's development. To that end, broad stakeholder consultations have been taking place across Ontario over the last several weeks. We also recognize that some people and organizations for various reasons may not be able to attend the face-to- face sessions. Subsequently, a survey that replicates the consultation process is available as an alternative means of providing input. The survey can be accessed by going to the FRC website: http://www.frcentre.net/library/FOCUSSurveyInstrument.doc Please send your completed questionnaire to John McCready of Healthy Horizons Consulting at [log in to unmask] by June 7, 2002. We would very much like stakeholder input that is broad and diverse, and encourage group and individual responses. Please share this opportunity with people, groups and organizations that may not be connected by e-mail. While it is preferred that responses be returned electronically, responses may also be sent by fax to the attention of Mary Graham at 613-546-3931. The FRC is pleased to be working with the MOHLTC's Health Promotion and Wellness of the Public Health Branch, Healthy Horizons Consulting and other health promotion stakeholders across Ontario on this very important initiative.
