DEPARTMENT OF CANADIAN HERITAGE, ONTARIO REGION
CANADIAN ARTS AND HERITAGE SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM
             CAPACITY BUILDING COMPONENT INFORMATION SESSIONS

What is it? The Department of Canadian Heritage recently launched the
Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program (CAHSP). The objective
of CAHSP is to support projects that will improve and consolidate the
organizational, administrative and financial situation of non-profit arts
and heritage organizations. For more detailed information about the
program criteria, please consult
http://www.pch.gc.ca/progs/pcapc-cahsp/index_e.cfm .

In order to familiarize Ontario's arts and heritage communities with the
Capacity Building Component of CAHSP and to provide an opportunity to
discuss individual projects with departmental representatives, Canadian
Heritage staff will be traveling across the province during the month of
September 2002 to hold information sessions (see the attached calendar for
sessions, locations and dates).

The information sessions are free of charge. Pre-registration is required.
All sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.; Departmental
staff will be available between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m. for individual meetings.

What will be discussed? Each session will include an introduction to the
three components of CAHSP, with emphasis placed on the Capacity Building
component. Examples of eligible projects will be discussed, followed by a
detailed description of the application process and tips on effective
grant-writing. An overview of complementary arts and heritage funding
programs offered by the Department will be provided, followed by
pre-scheduled individual meetings with program staff to discuss project
ideas.

Who should attend? Anyone may attend. However, the sessions will cater to
representatives of professional arts and heritage organizations that are
eligible to apply for funding. Eligibility criteria may be consulted at:
http://www.pch.gc.ca/progs/pcapc-cahsp/02_e.cfm. For more information,
please contact Tracy Marsh at (705) 728-2080 or [log in to unmask]
