The objective of CAHSP is to support projects that will improve and consolidate the organizational, administrative and financial situation of non-profit arts and heritage organizations. The Ontario Region of the Department will be hosting 13 information sessions around Ontario in September to discuss opportunities for funding under CAHSP, with a focus on Capacity Building. The next deadline for applications to this program is October 15, 2002. There are significant opportunities for Heritage clients under the Capacity Building component. The Department of Canadian Heritage recently launched the Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program (CAHSP). In order to familiarize Ontario's arts and heritage communities with the Capacity Building Component of CAHSP and to provide an opportunity to discuss individual projects with departmental representatives, Canadian Heritage staff will be traveling across the province during the month of September 2002 to hold information sessions (see the attached calendar for sessions, locations and dates). The information sessions are free of charge. Pre-registration is required. All sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.; Departmental staff will be available between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m. for individual meetings. What will be discussed? Each session will include an introduction to the three components of CAHSP, with emphasis placed on the Capacity Building component. Examples of eligible projects will be discussed, followed by a detailed description of the application process and tips on effective grant-writing. An overview of complementary arts and heritage funding programs offered by the Department will be provided, followed by pre-scheduled individual meetings with program staff to discuss project ideas. Who should attend? Anyone may attend. However, the sessions will cater to representatives of professional arts and heritage organizations that are eligible to apply for funding.
