Maybe the average citizen somewhere, but certainly not the average American college student. Demand for courses in economics and business is way, way up in the US. Demand, however, for the more non-quantitative, descriptive and opinion-based classes is way down. Maybe things will turnaround sometime in the future, but given the ever increasing proportion of foreign students in the US college system, I doubt the demand for quantitative and scientifically oriented classes will fall.
