I am posting this on behalf of Tom Larson who has graciously offered to make his article available in electronic form. Please send your request directly to him (NOT to TWAIN-L) at the e-mail address below. Thank you. -- Kevin B. Dear Twainians, Today ( May 8th) the San Diego Reader will publish "I Am Your Loving Daughter, Clara Clemens" on the cover. Clara Clemens, the only surviving daughter of Mark Twain, lived her final decade in San Diego, and died here in 1962 at age 88. The article tells the story of Clara's difficulties with her father, her second husband, her daughter, and managing Twain's legacy. Many of you know this story, so much of it is not new. I have concentrated on Clara's end-game, which mostly occurred in California during the last couple decades of her life. The piece includes a great story from Hal Holbrook about the one time he met Clara. If you'd like a copy, please let me know at [log in to unmask] . It is not online, but I can send an email text-only attachment. All the best, Tom Larson [log in to unmask]
