To address the increasing volume of mass-mailings sent out by virus-infected systems world-wide on the Internet, CNS's anti-virus gateway will be configured to silently discard any virus-infected email messages it detects. This is a change from the current behaviour which is to remove the virus-infected attachment only, but pass the remainder of the message on for delivery. As a result, there is a very small chance that legitimate messages sent from certain virus-infected systems may also be discarded. This change will occur as of June 16th. Reminder: Symantec Anti-Virus software is provided for all York students, faculty and staff for both work and home use. Please see: http://www.cns.yorku.ca/computing/apps/nortonantivirus/index.html Questions or concerns about this note should be directed to the CNS Helpdesk in the Computing Commons, Parking Structure II, (voice: 416-736-5800, email: [log in to unmask]).
