It has been established that there are a number of AirYork wireless users with
machines infected by the latest worms. These devices have been impacting
wireless performance due to the amount of network traffic they generate
(excessive ICMP-based ping requests).

Netops has taken steps to reduce the effect of these machines on our network.

1) The amount of generated ICMP traffic was creating a high CPU situation for
our AirYork authentication servers. Consequently, we are now filtering all ICMP
traffic at these servers.

2) Wireless clients in the same wireless cell had the capability of infecting
each other. As a result, direct inter-cell connectivity between clients has now
been blocked.

Be advised that these steps are temporary until such time as their removal is
deemed appropriate. Please contact [log in to unmask] with and questions and/or
concerns.
