Although most of the refs have been to popular/vernacular music, Ferde Grofe's _Mississippi Suite_ features a 2nd movement titled "Huckleberry Finn." It's not choral music, but it's very evocative. Grofe's _Grand Canyon Suite_ is more famous; the _Mississippi Suite_ was written in the 20s I believe, when Grofe was the pianist and arranger for Paul Whiteman's band. I have an Angel Records recording that includes these two suites plus his _Death Valley Suite_. --Larry Howe ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary Leah Christmas" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Monday, March 08, 2004 8:37 AM Subject: Re: Mark Twain Music > I "third" Bob Slotta's motion re Rush's "Tom Sawyer," which I have long > considered my fave rock anthem of all time--and yes, especially at full > volume.
