In 2003, he was awarded a Quarry Farm Research Fellowship to support his writing of a book on Mark Twain's religious views. The article written during his stay at Quarry Farm is soon to be published. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in the Barn at Quarry Farm, 8 P.M. "Mark Twain and Medicine: 'Any Mummery Will Cure'" K. Patrick Ober, M.D., Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina Dr. K. Patrick Ober is a Professor of Internal Medicine and the Associate Dean for Education at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Ober presented a paper at the Elmira 2001 Conference entitled "The Body in the Cave: Dr. Joseph McDowell's Influence on Mark Twain." His new book, Mark Twain and Medicine: "Any Mummery Will Cure," Columbia and London, University of Missouri Press, 2003, is now available.
