One such cross exists on I-40 in the panhandle area of Texas--a few
miles out from Amarillo. Quite impressive really. My wife and I had to
stop, since it captured our attention for so many miles. The fellow has
also constructed a life sized bronze "stations of the cross" at the foot
of his gigantic stainless steel cross--fourteen sculpted scenes covering
the passion. When we were there, he was at work designing and building
a scene from Gethsemane. I, for one, must admire such determination and
dedication.
Just think, if we could muster such energy up among a few devoted
Twainians, well, we could commission the sculpting of Twain's image
across the side of some granite hillside in Missouri--casting advice
westward toward Mt. Rushmore.
