Professor Thomas's question suggests (to me at least) another one...

What would be the usefulness (pros and cons) of having another
organizing concept (besides theory, paradigm or research program) for a
body of knowledge sharing some (which?) characteristics?

Obviously, theory seems too narrow and paradigm too wide but... one more?

Diversification makes sense only if correlations are substantially
different from one.
