Dear all, In the short run it is not always advisable to visit HET courses when the student is going to write a dissertation on economic theory or on econometric themes under limited time. It is indeed a hard task to persuade our friends of the necessity of HET courses at the graduate level. Yet, it does NOT deny the importance of HET for a longer run. Having conversations with A. Smith, K. Marx and J. M. Keynes, it enables a scholar to look at economic problems from a wider perspective. Although you have other means to have good visions, HET certainly is a candidate. Of course, it is still arguable whether it gives a higher yield compared with other activities in his or her life cycle. Yukihiro Ikeda
