I am puzzled as to why it would be "a totally startling result" to discover that the respective demands for both of two complementary goods would be affected by a tax levied on only one of them--and that this would change the profit-maximizing prices of both. Surely, math is not required to reason out such an effect of an excise tax. Sam Bostaph
