The Southern African AIDS Trust (SAT) seeks an Executive Director The "Southern African AIDS Training Programme (SAT)" was developed by the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) as a regional initiative that supports community responses to HIV and AIDS in southern Africa, funded primarily through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). In 2003, SAT was reconstituted as the Southern African AIDS Trust, a registered charitable regional non-governmental body with its regional secretariat based in Johannesburg, South Africa. SAT's strategy is to support and facilitate community initiatives to improve and scale up their responses to HIV and AIDS. Of particular note, SAT has 15 years' experience of grant making to community-based and non-governmental organizations and implements a south-to-south skills-training, lessons-learning and monitoring relationship called "School Without Walls". SAT includes a regional secretariat and country-based programs in Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Executive Director is responsible for the direction and overall management of SAT. This includes leadership of the organization, oversees and ensures the quality of the management team, takes the lead in developing and promoting SAT's policy directions and strategy, resource mobilization and management, and representation with international, regional and local donors and stakeholders. Interested candidates must possess a graduate degree in a social science or comparable field with a focus on management, have at least seven years' experience in senior organizational management in a government or non-governmental international organization, possess strong organizational and financial management skills and experience, and be familiar with the principles and practices of community HIV and AIDS care, support and prevention, with experience in organizational capacity building of CSOs/NGOs. Candidates should also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be available to travel frequently. The working language is English.
