Expression: When disaster strikes! Recent emergency situations, such as the hurricane disasters in the United States where elderly people did not receive access to timely care and the outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease in a nursing home in Toronto, have illustrated the need for Canada to have effective emergency planning that takes into account the health needs of seniors and those most vulnerable during emergency situations. This issue of Expression not only aims to highlight the vulnerabilities of seniors, but to also acknowledge and engage their expertise and capacities to build more resilient communities.
