******* PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY ******* IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING DELL NOTEBOOK BATTERY RECALL As you may be aware, Dell recently issued a safety recall for dell laptop batteries received/purchased between April 2004 and July 2006. The batteries can overheat and be a fire hazard. If you believe you may have an affected computer, please follow the following steps. If this is a University supported computer, please refer to your local technical support group for direction, otherwise continue the steps here. Confirm whether your DELL Laptop is within the following model range: Latitude: D410, D500, D505, D510, D520, D600, D610, D620, D800, D810 Inspiron: 500M, 510M, 600M, 700M, 710M, 6000, 6400, 8500, 8600, 9100, 9200, 9300, 9400, E1505, E1705 If Yes, then the next step is to verify whether your Laptop is carrying the affected battery pack and this can be done by deploying the following step: - Power down the Laptop - Remove the Battery Pack (if not familiar, access the Laptop users guide) - The Battery Pack must have the DELL markings along with Made in Japan or Made in China. If the Battery Pack does not have these markings then your Battery Pack is not affected.
