The following lines from Pushkin's _Eugene Onegin_ would make a nice  
epigraph to Evelyn Forget's work on 19th-century women translators:  
  
It's true, I'll not misrepresent them,  
some ladies preach from Say and Bentham,  
but by and large their talk's a hash  
of the most harmless, hopeless trash.
