CFP--HES at 2008 ASSA The History of Economics Society will sponsor four sessions at the Allied Social Sciences Association (ASSA) meetings, January 4-6, 2008 in New Orleans, LA. Please submit session proposals, suggestions for organizing sessions and abstracts for papers (approx. 200 words) no later than May 1, 2007. Proposals should be sent via email to the HES Vice President, Perry Mehrling, at [log in to unmask] Topics proposed should be related to the history of economics or to subjects of related interest. Session Objectives and Preferences The ASSA offers the History of Economics Society a rare opportunity to present high quality research in our field to a large audience of professional economists who are not working in the field, but who might find the history of economics a valuable resource for their research and teaching. With that in mind, preference will be given first and foremost to high quality. Then, among high quality submissions, preference will be given to submissions that are judged to have the greatest potential for crossover interest and thus the greatest potential to attract a significant audience that envisions benefits from the history of economics for their research or teaching. Sessions are almost invariably more interesting if the topics of the presentations are well integrated. For this reason submissions for whole sessions will be given preferential consideration. A Note on Process Responses to well constructed proposals will certainly be complimentary, and may offer suggestions and encouragement for further development of the proposal. Please understand, however, that compliments, suggestions, or encouragement do not connote acceptance. Please do not assume a proposal is accepted until an official notice of acceptance is received.
