George Mason will host the History of Economics Society annual meeting (8-11 June 2007).  James Buchanan will present the Distinguished Visitor Lecture, "Let us understand Adam Smith".  David Warsh will speak on "The Ascent/Descent from Adam Smith". Please consider proposing a paper or session, or offering to serve as discussant or chair at the HES conference. Proposals are due February 15th.  Papers on topics related to the history or methodology of the discipline are welcome.  Additional information is available at: http://historyofeconomics.org/

Also, the Summer Institute for the History of Economic Thought will be directly before the HES (4-7 June 2007).  Among others, speakers will include James Buchanan, on "History of Economic Thought as a Lingua Franca", David Laidler, Alain Marciano, Malcolm Rutherford, and Anthony Waterman.  We are looking for papers on any subject matter but welcome especially proposals on  Models and Language; Locating Adam Smith; Experts and Economics; Schumpeterian Themes; Beliefs; and Schools of Economic Thought.
