Any individuals considering membership in the ACA for the coming year are reminder there are just five days remaining in which to complete your application and payment, receiving 18 months membership at the 12-month rate for 2006-07.  For those renewing members, the on-line renewal feature will be available though June 30th, while a new membership must be submitted to the ACA office by mail or fax not later than Friday, June 29th.  

 

At the ACA 2007 Annual General Meeting, the membership completed the following resolutions and announced several awards which may be of interest for the archival community:

a.                   member fees were approved for the years 2008 though 2011.

b.                   the student e-membership was approved; the details for this new member category as well as an application form will be available on the ACA website later this summer.

c.                   Loryl MacDonald was acclaimed as Vice-President elect while Charlotte Woodley was acclaimed as Director Without Portfolio elect; both will begin in their new roles effective January 1st, 2008.

d.                   The Review and Renewal Select Committee recommendations were approved in principle while the detailed amendments to ACA Bylaws will be prepared for consideration at the 2008 AGM.

e.                   Terry Cook was awarded the 2006 W. Kaye Lamb Prize

f.                     David Berman was awarded the 2007 W. Kaye Lamb Prize

g.                   Keli Rylance was awarded the 2007 Hugh A. Taylor Prize

h.                   Robert McIntosh was presented the Membership Recognition Award

i.                     Prof. Terry Eastwood was presented the Honorary Membership Award

 

The joint ACA-AAO 2007 Conference has been deemed a success by quite a number of the attending delegates and speakers.  Final results will be announced early in July while the event information will remain on the ACA website until August.  The conference proceedings will be posted to the ACA members website later this summer once the presentations and papers are received from the presenters.  

 

The Call for Submissions 2008 was distributed to delegates in Kingston and is also available on the ACA website.
