"Integrative Medicine for Cancer Treatment in China"

A talk with Dr. Luming Liu, Department of Integrative Oncology, Fudan
University Hospital, People's Republic of China.

Dr. Liu will introduce the theory, philosophy and etiology of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as will as TCM's various roles in
cancer treatment. Different therapies such as drug treatment,
acupuncture/acupressure/acustimulation, plasters and Qigong (breathing
exercises) will be discussed.

Dr. Liu is the Director of the Fudan University International Centre of
Integrative Oncology, and leads the International Center of TCM for
Cancer funded by the US National Cancer Institute in three collaborative
research programs: 1) Evaluating herbal/natural product treatments that
target disease outcomes and treatment and disease-related symptoms; 2)
Determining the effects of acupuncture on specific clinical symptoms in
patients with cancer; and 3) Examining the biobehavioral effects of
Qigong and other mind-body-based interventions in patients with cancer.
