Good point, Davis, although returning to the scene of one's success is understandable, I suppose, while attempting to write a sequel to perhaps the greatest American novel is--well, what would you call it? Some might say vanity, others foolishness, others laudable.? Save for death of the protagonist(s) (and possibly not even then) I suppose almost any novel might be sequelized. There's a whole school of writing called "fanfic" that uses existing characters and some plotlines (such as writing a Star Trek episode, etc.)--and this fiction writing is not allowed in some workshops, though it may be a good way for novices to begin their writing career, even though some call it plagiarism of the worst order. Is a sequel to a classic akin to plagiarism? A question which could be argued either way. David H. Fears
