There have been a number of changes
made to our program.
1. For CONTINUING (2008-2009)
HM, HP, HI, students, NURS 3500, NURS 3740 and HLST 3011 will no longer
required to receive the BHS degree. They can be taken as electives or replaced
by any other course excluding GEN ED courses. HLST 3011 will not
be offered again.
2. A New 42 credit Bachelor of Health
Studies (Honours) program will be available beginning in September. It
will be 42 credits and consist of the following.

3. Since BHS students now have
30 free elective credits, you can take a Minor area of study. We
highly recommend taking a Minor in Health and Society.
Honours (Minor) BA Program in
Health and Society
This program may be pursued jointly
with an Honours Major BA Program in the Faculty of Arts, or with Honours
Majors in Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, Faculty of Health or the Faculty
of Pure and Applied Science (some departments only). Students will take
at least 30 credits in Health & Society, including the following:
- AS/SOSC2110 6.0 - A Critical Study
of Health and Society;
- AS/SOSC2150 9.0* - Health in Crisis;
- AS/SOSC3993 3.0 - Research Methods
in Social Science;
- 9 additional credits at the 3000-level
chosen from the Health & Society list of program courses, including
at least 6 credits from the Division of Social Science;
- 6 Social Science credits at the
4000-year level chosen from the Health& Society list of program courses
* Counts for 9 credits toward Arts degree
but only 6 credits toward HESO major or minor.
