I was unhappy to read about the Mark Twain House and Museum - I knew they had problems, but I had not realized they had reached this state. I think it very brave of them to tell the world of their troubles, but I hope it shakes people up a little, and prods someone to step forward to help. The staff is still doing a remarkable job under very difficult circumstances. The reporter who wrote the piece in the New York Times came to see me today, and I told her how I felt, how we cannot possibly allow the Mark Twain House to close - it played such an important role in Mark Twain's life. And Mark Twain played such an important role in American life. Watch out for a piece about the Mark Twain Library in the fall. Heather Morgan.
