My understanding has been that both Twain and Paige kept wanting the machine to do more -- many more fonts in many more sizes. They really wanted to create the Macintosh WYSIWYG for ease of use, in combination with the laser printer (both of which were actually created by Xerox in Palo Alto), versus the IBM typing approach. Yes, the industry wanted something sooner and cheaper. It was a brilliant idea for its time, and certainly deserves to be in the Twain museum.
