Hi Camy-- It's usually spelled Kwanzaa. The holiday was invented in the '70s by (birth name) Ron Everett, leader of the African-American political group United Slaves (US) who later changed his name to Maulana Karenga, got a PhD, and is now professor of African-American Studies at Cal State Long beach. There is a Kwanzaa page at: http://www.officialkwanzaawebsite.org/index.shtml Personally, I'm lighting a candle to celebrate that here in the Northern Hemisphere this is the shortest day of the year and that the days will now be getting longer and warmer. -- Gerald
