Learning Skills Program-February Calendar

Dear Colleagues,

The Learning Skills Program at the Counselling and Development Centre would like to provide you with the Learning Skills Workshop calendar for the month of February.  We run free daily in-house workshops during the Fall and Winter sessions in the areas of:

-Time Management,
-Reading and Note Taking,
-Exam Preparation,
-Learning Style,
-Academic Anxiety and Stress,
-Academic Writing,
-Memory Strategies,
-Study Secrets,
-Critical Thinking and
-Presentation Skills.

Along with our in house workshops, we can also be found at the Scott Library.  All workshops in the Scott Library are located in the Sound and Moving Image Library (SMIL), Room 124.

Post-Strike Student Support:

To help students cope with the resumption of classes, the Learning Skills Program will be offering a more intensive 'hands on' Time Management workshop at the Scott Library, in addition to our regular one-hour Time Management workshops at the Bennett Centre.  This new expanded workshop is designed to give students the opportunity for more "hands on" assistance in prioritizing their assignments and readings and managing their busy schedules.  In addition, the Learning Skills Program has compiled some tips for academic success to help students get back into school mode (attached).

It would be greatly appreciated if you could distribute the attached calendar and tip sheet to students, fellow staff and faculty.  Students can register for these workshops on-line at:  www.yorku.ca/cdc/lsp/ or in person at N110, located in the Bennett Centre for Student Services.

As a reminder, the Learning Skills Program is one of the programs offered through the Counselling and Development Centre as well as the Atkinson Counselling and Supervision Centre.  These services are offered free of charge to all York University Students.  For more information on the services available, visit us on-line at:  www.yorku.ca/cdc/lsp/ & www.yorku.ca/atkcsc/workshops/ .

Please view the attached file for our workshop schedule and tips sheet, or visit us on-line at: www.yorku.ca/cdc/lsp/ for more information.

Sincerely,
Cathy Boyd Withers & Mona Frial-Brown
