Since Luis Caceres has nominated his two favourite Latin American
economists, Celso Furtado and Raul Prebisch, whom I do not rate,
allow me to put up my own (naturalised) Latin American favourite,
Lauchlin Currie (1902-1993) who made stellar contributions in the
1930s as a top New Dealer, and equally big contributions to
development economics since first heading up a World Bank mission to
Colombia in 1949.
