Hello Members and Supporters of Health as a Bridge to
Peace,
I hope you had a great summer. Now that school's back in session, there
are two dates I would like to you save:
October 2, 2009: International Women’s and Children’s
Health (IWCH) Conference, Burlington
October 5, 2009: Inclusion Day, York University
HBP has a lot of new and interesting initiatives coming up and we will
keep you posted on the details.
Noted below are details pertaining to the International Women’s and Children’s
Health (IWCH) Conference. The keynote speakers will
be fantastic, and the conference as a whole looks like it will be a lot
of fun and a great learning opportunity.
Registration will continue until the day of the conference, but the fee
is slightly lower if students register before September 18th.
If you have any questions contact the main conference address ([log in to unmask]).
Wishing you good health,
Lavina
The 11th Annual International Women’s and
Children’s Health (IWCH) Conference, “Planting Seeds: The Growth of Community-Centered
Health Initiatives”, will take place on October 2, 2009 at
the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario.
Our aim is to promote active participation in improving
health outcomes for women and children in local as well as global communities.
The event will provide a forum for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge
exchange among students, professionals, activists and NGOs from many disciplines.
The keynote speakers will be Sally Armstrong: human rights
activist, Amnesty International Award winner, and member of the Order of
Canada, and Carol Devine: author, Vice-President of Dignitas International,
and former program director for Medecins Sans Frontieres.
We will also be accepting submissions for this year's
photo auction. This is an opportunity for participants to raise funds for
a local non-profit organization while displaying their talent in photography
and highlighting some of their work in the International or Canadian Health
Community. The winning submission will be featured in the Canadian Medical
Association Journal! We would like to remind potential applicants that
consent must be obtained from subjects of the photograph in order to be
published in the CMAJ.
For more information or to register, please visit our
website at www.iwch.org
(note: early bird registration ends on Sept. 18th).
We would be happy to address any inquiries directed to:

We hope to see you at the conference.
Sincerely,
IWCH Committee 2009
