Many thanks. I'll forward this to my friend. The Blount quote is
dandy. The "only good for a monologue" and "dear little genius" phrases
may have been entirely sincere, but they sure conjure the picture of
someone patting a child on the head. But, then again, Twain's "praise"
of James conceals something of a blackjack. So perhaps Blount's archery
hits pretty close to the bull's-eye.
