Not only does the passage cited by Carlos not refer to “class
interest” (it says “social being”) but what is here said to be determined is “consciousness”
– a quite different category to “logic”.

The following
quotation may perhaps be helpful, althought it does not refer exactly to
"class interest":
"The mode of production of material life conditions the social,
political and intellectual life process in general. It is not the consciousness
of men that determines their being, but, on the contrary, their social being
that determines their consciousness."
